What to wear for your Antalya photoshoot

The right outfit makes a good photo great — here’s what works against Antalya’s sea, sand and old-town stone.

What to wear for your Antalya photoshoot

Colour is the first decision, and it matters more in Antalya than most places, because your backdrop is either bright turquoise sea or warm terracotta stone. Soft neutrals, sand, white, dusty pink, sage and terracotta all sit beautifully against both the beach and Kaleiçi’s old walls. Save bold, saturated colour for one statement piece rather than a full outfit — a single red or cobalt dress reads as intentional, while an all-neon look tends to fight with the scenery.

Fabric matters as much as colour. Light, flowing materials — linen, cotton voile, chiffon — move naturally in the sea breeze and give photos a soft, effortless quality, especially on the beach at golden hour. Stiff, heavy fabrics and busy prints tend to photograph as flat or cluttered next to Antalya’s textured stone and water. If in doubt, choose the fabric that would move if you spun around.

For couples, coordinate rather than match. Matching head-to-toe often reads as costume-like in photos; coordinating means picking a shared palette or tone — say, sand and white, or terracotta and cream — and choosing separate pieces within it. It keeps the pair looking connected without looking like a uniform, and it gives us room to place you differently across beach, old-town and rooftop shots.

Families and groups work the same way. Pick two or three colours from the same palette and let each person wear a slightly different shade or piece rather than identical outfits — it photographs as considered rather than staged, and it holds up whether you’re on Konyaaltı beach or walking Kaleiçi’s lanes. Avoid mixing more than one bold pattern in a group shot, since patterns compete with each other more than they compete with the background.

A few things to avoid: large logos and text, which date photos quickly and distract from faces; pure white in strong midday sun, which can blow out and lose detail; and very tight, structured clothing for a beach session, which restricts movement and reads stiffly in candid shots. Comfortable, well-fitted pieces you can walk, sit and laugh in will always outphotograph a technically perfect outfit you feel awkward in.

The flying dress — a long, dramatic, wind-catching gown, usually in a single bold colour — has become one of the most requested looks for Antalya beach sessions, and for good reason. It turns a simple beach walk into a striking, editorial-style image as the fabric lifts in the sea breeze, and it works especially well timed to golden hour, when the light glows through the fabric. It’s a popular add-on for couples and solo portraits alike.

Layering matters too if you’re combining locations in one session: a light cover-up or jacket over a beach outfit can double as your old-town look, saving you a full outfit change while still giving variety across the gallery. Bring your Kaleiçi or rooftop outfit as a separate bag if you’re coming straight from the beach, so nothing gets sandy or damp.
